Our firm successfully represented the global Hilton chain, Hilton Worldwide Manage Limited, in defeating an appeal filed before the Supreme Court by the French businessman Michel Ohayon.
Ohayon’s appeal concerned a judgment of the Jerusalem District Court, in which our firm also represented Hilton, and in which the court confirmed foreign arbitration awards (ICC) against Ohayon in a total amount of approximately NIS 100,000,000, relating to the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in Jerusalem. In doing so, the District Court analyzed the enforcement avenues under the New York Convention and established legal precedents regarding the enforcement of arbitral awards pursuant to the New York Convention that had never before been considered or decided in Israeli jurisprudence. Following a hearing before the Supreme Court, the honorable panel issued a judgment dismissing the appeal and ordering the appellant to pay legal costs in favor of Hilton.
