Our firm represented the Israeli Basketball Association in legal proceedings against FIBA’s decision

Our firm represented the Israeli Basketball Association in legal proceedings against FIBA’s decision not to allow the Jewish naturalized basketball players Alex Cohen and Alyssa Baron to participate in the the Israeli national team without restrictions.

As a result of our motions, FIBA withdrew its initial refusal, making an exception to the regulation that prevents a national team from including more than one player who received citizenship in that country after reaching the age of 16.

In recent decisions issued in the matter of both players, all the arguments we put forward were accepted, and as a result, the players will be able to represent Israel in the 2023 EuroBasket tournament, which will take place this summer and will be co-hosted by Israel.

The Israeli Basketball Association was represented by Partner Joseph Gayer and Senior Associate Omri Applebaum.
